March 30, 2009

Fun, hands-on activities include a college and career exploration fair, interactive workshops and mentoring by successful professional women.  Don’t miss it!

Selected Conference Highlights:
Eco-Jewelry Making

Fun with Biotechnology
Did you know that scientists can track changes in cells?  One way is with bioluminescence – cool luminous colors – from the luciferase gene in click beetles.  Be a scientist and perform a simulated genetic transformation of the luciferase gene into bacterial cells.  Anyone can do it!  What will happen?  Try it and see!  Sponsor:  BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute (www.btci.org)  Limit 30 students per workshop session.

All Fired Up!

Visit The Village
Do you live for Second Life? Find Facebook more fun than school? Learn how to have fun in a virtual world that's built just for Wisconsin students, and build your knowledge while you're at it! In this hands-on computer workshop, you'll have a chance to explore The Village, a world created by Wisconsin students with a real passion for engineering, computers, or even creative writing!  Sponsor:  Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth  (www.wcaty.org)   Limit 40 students per workshop session.

Financing College and Beyond
